Curriculum
Our school provides diverse courses in accordance with the "Kindergarten Education Curriculum Guide" (2017) of the Hong Kong Education Bureau. It is based on children's development needs and learning interests and is in line with social changes, regional culture, the school's educational philosophy, and parents' opinions. Age development and learning levels are arranged in a spiral curriculum. After professional analysis, planning, and review by the principal, director, and teachers, the school continues to review and improve every year to continuously consolidate and improve the curriculum structure.
Through picture book stories and moral education, children can learn to think from multiple perspectives, accept different opinions, and develop their strengths in different extension activities, such as painting, speaking and expression, and peer cooperation, thereby enhancing children's artistic development and appreciation of creativity and ability. In addition, to help the children in the senior class reduce their worries about moving to Primary One and have a better connection, an adaptation week for Primary One and a visit to primary schools were arranged to allow the children to adapt to primary school life as soon as possible. In addition, the school also arranges various interest classes during after-school hours, such as Taekwondo classes, painting classes, children's dance, abacus mental arithmetic, and English singing tours. It also has a traffic safety team and a choir, so that the children can develop morally, intellectually, physically, and mentally. Both social and aesthetic aspects have been comprehensively developed.
1. Strengthen the learning of biliteracy and three languages
Children in the kindergarten stage are a prime time for language development. The exposure and learning of biliteracy and trilingual are necessary for their life and study. What is more important is to cultivate their interest in language learning. To enhance children's interests and abilities in language, our school has hired additional foreign English teachers and domestic professional Mandarin teachers to conduct weekly English and Mandarin courses. Foreign teachers lead English story classes and pinyin teaching to enhance children's ability to read English. In addition, Mandarin teachers often use the rhythm of music to strengthen children's ability to listen to Mandarin and physical coordination, using diversified models to stimulate children's interest in learning and improve their learning level.
2. Picture book activities
Using picture books as a medium, using the core purposes of the books, and based on children's interests and comprehensive development abilities, we design courses and extended learning activities suitable for children, thereby developing unique class special topics and creating new children's picture books. In addition to comprehensively improving children's language quality, it can also achieve the effect of enhancing children's nine common abilities.
3. Drama teaching
In daily classes, we encourage children to participate in story interpretation and creation using various methods such as text, pictures, spoken language, and body movements. This enhances the interaction between children and stories and encourages them to explore the values conveyed by the stories. By communicating and cooperating with friends to perform, children develop their communication, collaboration, creativity, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, which promotes their all-round growth and is very beneficial to the development of social skills. Let us work together to provide such a rich and colorful learning experience for young children, allowing them to grow, explore and think through dramatic interactions!
4. Art teaching
Children learn about different artistic elements by appreciating the works and characteristics of classic and contemporary artists and then use open-ended materials to create, in conjunction with their imagination, collaboration, and sharing, to promote mutual appreciation and spiritual connection, and through hands-on exercises It enhances children's sensory experience, triggers their association, and allows children to enjoy the fun of artistic creation and release their emotions and creativity from the activities. Children participate in diversified art activities to promote their observation, curiosity, autonomy, imagination and creativity, and enhance their interest in art and various skills.
5. Broaden the learning experience
Our kindergarten will tailor the curriculum according to the needs of the school and will cooperate with thematic teaching at all levels to expand children's cognitive fields, and arrange timely outings for children according to the learning content, such as Traffic Safety City, Sunny Smile Little Paradise, Fire Station, Reptile House...etc., to expand the learning environment for young children.
6. Make good use of community resources
Make good use of community resources to assist in the implementation of courses, such as traffic safety lectures, home safety lectures of the Electrical and Mechanical Department, visits to post offices, interviews with building managers, leading children to donate clothes to environmental recycling bins in the district, firefighters visiting schools to guide children in fire drills, and visits Light rail stations, parks, supermarkets and shopping malls, etc., can deepen children's understanding of the community and increase their understanding and sense of belonging to the community.
7. Connection between kindergarten and primary school
Kindergarten is the starting point for children to receive formal education. It should echo with primary school, middle school and even university education to complete an overall educational image. Therefore, the connection between kindergarten and primary school learning and life is the most important. To allow children to understand and understand the life of young children as early as possible, we have arranged for senior-class children to go to the primary schools affiliated with Lok Sin Tong in Tuen Mun and Tin Shui Wai for a primary school experience day tour. In addition, children will be arranged to go to primary schools for on-the-spot classes, and a mock class week for Primary one will be held in school to help children become more confident in transitioning to primary school.
8. Activities related to different festivals
Our school will hold stalls or extended activities, such as National Day, Mid-Autumn Festival, New Year and Easter, etc. Booth activities will be set up on campus or at outdoor stadiums to introduce different festivals through games. Culture, on the other hand, allows young children to experience the joy of festivals.
